FSTS So we went...

Have you ever done anything AMAZINGLY exciting??  I was super excited to go to First Steps To Success by Dani Johnson and my husband decided to go along too.  We ABSOLUTELY loved it and needed it.  Dani Johnson goes into so many areas of life that need changing/tweeking to become the best we could be for our family, children, friends, colleagues and clients.  It was such an amazing weekend that we came home and couldn't stop talking about it.

A family friend heard us talking about the event and he recommended one of the video sets that Dani teaches on, and it was called "Grooming the Next Generation for Success".  We started watching it shortly after FSTS, and OH MY GOODNESS.  We saw what we were missing in our parenting.  We started applying little things that she taught on, and seriously saw results immediately with our three boys.  Applying what God's word says on discipline, and the correct steps to take so there is a breaking off of bitterness , no backtalk, and lots of honor established among the kids, things started to change.  Of course, it will take awhile to "reprogram" them for success, but as long as we allowed stuff to penetrate their minds that shouldn't have, we were keeping our own kids from succeeding! How horrible is that!?!  We are working with them on each of the steps, and know that eventually they will start doing this little by little on their own, because it will become their mindset.

They are honoring each other, arguing less, less eye rolling when told to do something, and so SO much more.  They aren't "acting" perfectly, they are "learning" to actually feel and behave the way they should because the heart is getting the treatment needed, not just the outside "doing what it should".  Of course, things won't always be peachy, but we are working on things together and changing A LOT of stuff in our home.  It is also causing us to view our children in a TOTALLY different light as well.  I'm super excited to be a part of our children's lives, and that God chose us to groom our little boys!  The series seriously takes the "what is wrong here??" to "holy cow, those things need to change.... now!"
